About the Band

EngineRoom began in 1998 with founding members Steve Carlino and Glenn Lopea. Over the years, the band has played at events from weddings and wineries, to clubs and festivals. The members of the band are from various walks of life but share a love of good music and a joy in performing.

Glenn Lopea

Lead Vocals/Guitar

Glenn picked up the guitar as a teen and by the 80s was playing clubs in the South Bay area with a friend. In the 90s he hooked up with some rocker dudes and formed a band called Chapter Five, which later became EngineRoom.

A strong rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist, Glenn's roots are Rock & Roll and Rhythm & Blues with a smattering of Country mixed in. He has performed his own music as well as favorite classics. Glenn’s influences include: The Beatles, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and many others.

Steve Carlino

Keyboards

Steve has been playing piano/keyboards in various bands around northern California since the 70s. Rock, Blues, and R&B with a jazz influence are in Steve's wheelhouse.

Steve and Glenn are founding members of EngineRoom since 1998.

Mike Jameson

Vocals/Percussion

Mike was born into a boxing family, so what did Mike do? He boxed. "Irish Mike", as he was known in his boxing days, fought until he was 36 when he retired after winning his last fight against Berry Basler.

Mike now sings back up and plays percussion for EngineRoom. You can hear him singing lead on a few tunes as well, making use of those great Irish tenor pipes of his.

Nick Maris

Lead Guitar

Born and raised near Philadelphia, Nick has been a California resident since 1989 and has played in many bands over the years. Nick studied cello prior to picking up a guitar at age 15.

His music has been influenced by such diverse genres as rock and blues, not to mention country to classical. Nick's current favorite guitarists are Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Tommy Emmanuel, and Greg Koch.
